Walk to school day Friday, 22 May

It's National Walk Safely to School Day on Friday May 22, when kids are encouraged to get to school by ways other than driving - so walking, scooting, cycling or by public transport. If driving is unavoidable, parents are encouraged to park further away so their child can finish the journey on foot. The initiative promotes exercise as well as safe habits when crossing roads.

The school's Student Representative Council members will be on hand to provide fruit to kids when they arrive, kindly supplied by Waverley Council.

For K-2 students, "Buzzy Bee" will be entertaining them at 12.30 in the hall about the importance of exercise and safety.

The event began in NSW in 1999 and has been a national one since 2004. It is organised by the Pedestrian Council of Australia and ties in with the national event, Walk to Work Day each November.
